How I Prepare My TpT Store for the August Rush

August is one of the biggest months on Teachers Pay Teachers, which makes it the perfect time to get your store ready for back-to-school traffic. Whether you have been selling for years or you are still growing your store, a little preparation can make a big difference.

If teachers are searching for resources in August, you want your products to feel clear, current, and easy to buy. Here are some of the main ways I prepare my TpT store for the busy season.

1. Refresh Your Top Products

The first thing I do is look at my bestsellers.

Before the August rush begins, I ask myself:

  • Is the preview image up to date?
  • Does the cover reflect my current brand?
  • Are the thumbnails clear and helpful?
  • Is the description easy to read and keyword-friendly?

Even small updates can improve how a product performs. Sometimes a better cover, a cleaner preview, or a stronger description is enough to help turn more browsers into buyers.

2. Bundle Related Resources

August is a great time to create bundles or strengthen the ones you already have.

Teachers are often looking for complete solutions at the start of the school year. If you have several related products, bundling them can make your store feel more useful and save buyers time.

For example, if you have multiple theory lessons, classroom decor sets, or performance projects, grouping them into one bundle can help teachers see the bigger value right away.

This year, I am focusing on a music theory bundle that includes lessons, assessments, and a YouTube connection. A strong bundle can make back-to-school planning feel much easier for busy teachers.

3. Use Keywords More Intentionally

August is also the time to think carefully about search terms.

Try to think like a teacher using TpT search. What would they actually type in when they need help quickly?

Phrases might include:

  • first week music class
  • back to school music activities
  • middle school music theory bundle
  • music classroom decor
  • no-prep music activities

Use these phrases naturally in your product titles, descriptions, and tags. You can also carry the same language into your blog posts, Pinterest pins, and other promotional content.

4. Promote Your Best Resources

When August arrives, visibility matters.

This is not the time to quietly hope people find your store. Instead, it helps to choose a few strong resources and promote them consistently.

That might include sharing them through:

  • Pinterest pins
  • Instagram posts or stories
  • blog posts
  • email newsletters
  • YouTube content if it connects naturally to the product

If you only focus on promoting one thing, make it a resource that solves a clear back-to-school problem. In many cases, that will be a bundle, a freebie, or a high-value classroom staple.

5. Create a Simple Promo Plan

Promotion is easier when you do not have to decide everything in the moment.

Even a simple weekly plan can help you stay consistent during August. For example, one week might look like this:

  • Monday: publish a blog post about classroom setup or planning
  • Tuesday: share a freebie or entry-point product
  • Wednesday: post how you use a resource in your classroom
  • Thursday: send an email with tips and product links
  • Friday: publish a fresh Pinterest pin for your top bundle

It does not have to be complicated. A simple plan is much better than trying to do everything at once and burning out.

Final Thoughts

It is easy to feel overwhelmed in August, especially when you are trying to prepare both your classroom and your business. However, a little store prep now can help your resources stand out when teachers start searching.

Focus on clarity, usefulness, and visibility. Refresh what is already working, make it easy for buyers to see the value, and keep your promotion simple enough to sustain.

That is often more than enough to help your TpT store feel ready for the August rush.
